Character isn’t something you’re born with.
It’s something you build.
What is your character built on?
Proverbs 4:1-27 | Proverbs 16:20 | Jeremiah 17:7-8
God is the foundation.
Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
Family is the environment.
Joshua 24:15 — “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Character is the journey.
Proverbs 10:9 — “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.”
Joy is the outcome.
John 15:10-11 — “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love… I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Knowing your creator is the purpose.
Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you, ‘declares the lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future.”
Family Is Where Character Grows and Joy Gains A Foothold In Your Life
Character rarely develops in isolation.
It grows through relationships—through love, sacrifice, forgiveness, responsibility, encouragement, and grace.
Family is more than biology.
It’s the people who love you, challenge you, support you, and help shape who you’re becoming. Whether that family is biological, adopted, blended, chosen, or found through community, healthy relationships provide the environment where character matures.
Because people grow best when they’re deeply known and deeply loved.
Colossians 1:17-18 — He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
Colossians 3:12-17 — Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Strong Character Leads to a More Joyful Life
Life isn’t joyful because it’s easy.
It’s joyful because you have a foundation that helps you navigate both the victories and the storms.
Strong character gives you wisdom during uncertainty.
Peace during hardship.
Humility during success.
Hope when life feels overwhelming.
Joy isn’t the absence of difficulty.
It’s the confidence that you’re becoming who you were created to be.
James 1:2-4 — Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
God Is the Foundation
Every meaningful life is built on something.

Faith vs. Doubt, and Fear
No One Modeled Character Better than Jesus
Love. Compassion. Humility. Integrity. Courage. Forgiveness. Self-control. Sacrifice.
He showed us what it looks like to love God and love people completely.
Jesus came not to condemn the world, but to offer grace and invite us into a restored relationship with the Father. As we follow Him, His example becomes the pattern for our own lives. Jesus is the path to God The Father.
Through Jesus, we can experience a peace that passes all understanding.
Philippians 4:6 — “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
John 13:15 — “I have sent you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
Need Hope?
Life isn’t always easy. Maybe you’re carrying pain. Maybe you’re exhausted from parenting. Maybe your relastionships are falling apart or you’re simply trying to figure out why you’re here.
You don’t have to walk through it alone. There is hope. There is purpose. There is Someone who knows you completely and loves you unconditionally.

Everything Begins with The Father
Before there were families, there was God—the ultimate parent.
He is the perfect example of love, patience, wisdom, forgiveness, and grace. When we understand His heart, we begin to understand our own.
Matthew 7:9-11 — Which of you, if your son asked for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
