The Gift of Free Will

Free: Not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one wishes.

Will: A deliberate or fixed desire or intention.

Free Will

Along with the gift of amnesia comes the gift of Free Will. This means we are not all pre-programed robots simply following a set plans as we go through life (this is different from Soul Contracts in a later chapter). Free Will gives us the gift of choice. In any given situation that arises in our life from the smallest decision to the largest ones, we have a choice.

What we do with this choice is up to us, thanks to free will. Each and every decision is actually recorded. Everything we do has a reaction, either positive or negative. Think of a decision like dropping a pebble in water. There are ripples. The ripples are the consequences of our decisions. God does not preprogram your reaction to anything. That is the freedom you hold.

Sometimes we approach a decision consciously and sometimes it is unconscious. For example, you may consciously decide to attend a specific college and unconsciously limit your ability to do so by not getting your application in on time.

We learn from every decision make or don’t make. The ripple effect changes the course of our lives. The universe reacts to each of our decisions. Each decision is also tied to a thought process which carries a vibration with it. See more about vibrations in a later chapter. You can positively or negatively effect your life by your decisions and your vibration. Free Will is a gift, a tool, and a responsibility.

The Ego: Self-esteem, self-importance, self-worth, self-respect, self-image, self-confidence.

The ego plays a large roll in your decision making process. It highly influences your Free Will. You typically think of the Ego as you. Who you are. Your identify, yourself as you. However, the ego is just part of you, your conscious mind while the true essence of who you are is tied to your unconscious mind or your Higher-Self (see later chapter on Higher-Self).

The Ego is like having your Higher-Self wear really thick glasses that are out of focus. Instead of your Higher-Self making decisions based upon what it knows to be the best thing to do, Your Ego steps in and wants you to make decisions it feels you should make for self-preservation. Again, your Ego is most concerned with making sure you are protected, have food, and won’t die. It fears death, because the ego knows death is the end of It. But, your Higher-Self knows that it will live forever. So, how do you use your Free Will? Do you make decisions using your Ego or your Higher-Self? Is it about self-preservation or your spiritual Ascension over a longer time (many lives)?
